OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH POLICY
It is BENEJAF International Limited policy that activities are planned and executed in a manner that:
Preserves the health, safety and Security of its employees, subcontractors and all members of the public who may be affected by BENEJAF International Limited operations.
Minimize impact of its operation on the environment.
Shows concern to needs of BENEJAF OIL SERVICES LIMITED host communities.
Every BENEJAF International Limited employee and its subcontractor's employee must carry out his or her work in accordance to the laid down policies of the company.
An activity, in the view of the employee, which cannot be carried out in accordance with the policy, must be suspended and reported immediately to the relevant. BENEJAF International Limited supervisor.
Enhanced HSE Management
The management of BENEJAF International Limited is highly committed to the implementation of her polices. It ensures its Clients that these polices reflects the twelve (12) principles of ENHANCED HSE Management (EHSEM)
These includes:
- Visible management commitments to HSE
- Sound HSE policy.
- HSE - a line management responsibility
- Effective planning.
- Competent HSE Advisors.
- High, well understood HSE standard.
- Techniques to measure HSE performance.
- Realistic HSE targets and objective.
- Effective HSE Training.
- Thorough Investigation and follow-up of injuries and accidents.
- Effective motivation and communication.
- Audits of HSE standards and practices.
Q- HSE Policy
This policy addresses the Health, Safety and Environmental risks to our operations; and the potential impact on our host communities and staff; with strong management commitment at the highest level. This policy reflects good working practices and shall be made mandatory.
Therefore it shall be our policy to:
- Continuously pursuer the goal of no harm to people and the environment
- Manage HSE matters as any other critical business activity
- Promote a culture in which all BENEJAF employees share this commitment
The implications of this policy are that:
- All activities shall be analyzed to systematically identify related hazards, risks and sensitivities
- Arrangement shall be put in place to control the hazards, risks and sensitivities and to deal with consequences should they arise.
Continually assess environment impact and reduce it to a level as low practicable Include HSE performance in the appraisal of all staff and reward accordingly As HSE remains the responsibility of each and every one of us, every employee and contractor employee must plan and perform his work in accordance with this policy, this policy shall be a high level document, clearly understood by all staff, distribution to all and We shall all be guided by this policy.
COMMUNITY AFFAIRS POLICY
It is the policy of BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LTD that all our activities shall be carried out in such a way that:
· The Health, Safety and security of members of the host community shall be preserved.
· The negative impact on the host environment is negligible.
· Waste does not pollute the environment.
· Environmental damage is rectified immediately and adequate steps taken to prevent recurrence.
· About 60% of the labour force is employed from the host community.
· Assistance is given for certain development schemes.
· All complaints from host communities shall be treated immediately.
VISIBLE MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT TO HSE
BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LIMITED’S management recognizes the fact that there can be no meaningful progress without strong management support. We therefore regard HSE as part of line manager daily responsibilities alongside schedule financing, productivity and morale.
The Managing Director and the Project Director visit work areas regularly to monitor HSE, wearing the required PPE, and discussing HSE with employees and carrying out audits
The company management holds her HSE meeting quarterly and HSE is also an important agenda on all business meeting. Serious disciplinary action is usually taken for serious and repeated breaches of HSE rules
Line supervisors are empowered to stop work if they feel that the work is not safe. Adequate funds are always allocated for the creation of safe working conditions
Good HSE performance is always rewarded and the HSE department is fully staffed with not only experienced personnel but also competent ones
It is the management’ responsibility to ensure that all employees are properly equipped and trained, and to motivate them to work safely
The right attitude is the key to progress.
HSE IMPLEMENTATION POLICY
BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LIMITED has HSE policy that is so simple to read and understand.
It is distributed to all employees.
Line manager usually discussed with new employees the meaning of the policy and the implication. The employees understanding of the policy is usually confirmed by the safety officer.
The policy that all accidents are preventable and that HSE are as important as any other business activities. Also, the employee is also made aware that he is responsible for his own safety.
The policy is displayed on all notice boards and it is taught to local employees in their local languages.
SEAT BELT POLICY
It is BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LTD basic requirement that special attention is given to all matters of road safety with the aim of reducing road traffic accident.
Drivers are instructed that wearing of seat belt is mandatory and that they are held responsible for the wearing of seat belt by passengers. Drivers are authorized not to move the vehicle when passengers have not complied with the safety rules.
Remember to wear your seat belt always, because defaulters shall have their employment terminated instantly.
HSE INCIDENT POLICY
In line with the principles of enhanced HSE management (EHSEM), “The HSE Incentives Policy” shall be used as a tool of motivation for continuous enhancement of the HSE performance of all workers.
CATEGORIZATION
There shall be incentive in the following categories
ØEND of the year HSE award
ØQuarterly HSE bonus
ØDepartment HSE bonus
ØM.D’s Award for the best “HSE” conscious worker of the year.
ØProject Director’s Award for the HSE conscious driver/operator of the year.
TYPE
Incentives shall be in award, (CERTIFICATES, GIFTS e.t.c) and monetary gift to be determined by the management.
The central safety committee shall make selection process after the pre-selection exercise by the sponsor department/unit.
This policy shall be subject to review in line with the dictates of time.
ACCESS CONTROL POLICY
To reduce security risk of BENEJAF employees, client’s employees and assets, the management of BENEJAF International Limited therefore states that:
· Entering into her company premises and operational areas shall be only by appointment.
· Visitors must register with the security men at the gate.
· ID Cards must be worn by all employees.
· Visitors shall be entertained only on visiting days.
· Security men must ensure that visitor’s ID card is issued to those whose appointment has been confirmed.
· All security men must promote the culture of identifying all visitors to the company premises and operational areas.
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL POLICY
BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LIMITED recognizes the threat of usage of illicit drugs like, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, phencyclidine and; the risk it poses to health and safety of personnel at work. To this regard, the company aims not only to eliminate the use of drugs at work but also outside the workplace. It is a termination offence by any worker to use drugs at work or to be found to be under the influence of drugs. In order to achieve the elimination of use of drugs at work the company shall:
· Conduct Induction program for all personnel on the project on the harmful effect of use of illicit drugs to health.
· Conduct random test on personnel for traces of illicit drugs when necessary.
· Workers shall be closely monitored to know when anyone is under the influence of drug/alcohol which could lead to change of attitude to work.
· Any worker detected to be under the influence of alcohol drink shall be stopped from working and face disciplinary measures. All personnel working for the company are required to implement this policy.
SECURITY POLICY
The Policy articulates BENEJAF INTERNATIONAL LIMITED approach to security management. It forms part of a tiered hierarchy1 of documents and sets the terms of reference for discipline-specific standards and guidelines that should be read together.
We are committed to ensuring our company values are the foundation of our security management practices. In support and alignment with our values, goals and objectives, our primary function is to protect people, assets and the reputation of the company, ensuring performance with integrity.
In fulfilment of security duties, we will ensure that we are guided by our fundamental respect for human rights, and that we act at all times within the confines of the laws and regulations of the countries in which we operate.

PPE POLICY
In view of the importance of personal protective equipment as aid against accident, the management of Benejaf International Limited therefore mandates that
· PPE’S is compulsory for all activities.
· All PPE’S must be fit for purpose.
· Workers must use PPES adequately.
· Violators of PPE policy shall be sanctioned.
· No worker in our construction site is exempted from this rule.
· All workers must share these commitments to ensure accident reduction
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH POLICY
It is BENEJAF’S policy that all activities shall be planned and executed in a manner that preserves the health of her employees.
The implications of this policy are:
· Smoking in all operational areas, on company transport and in public areas, corridors, meeting rooms and shared offices, is prohibited.
· Consumption of alcohol and drugs in our company premises during working hours is prohibited.
· Employees, health shall be monitored on a regular basis via medical check-up.
· Analysis of accident and sickness incidents shall be routinely performed to identify harmful operations and the necessary corrective action implemented.
· Performance appraisal reward shall be given to employees with good health habit.
